Frequently Asked Questions about Invisalign ®
Invisalign, the primary alternative to braces, is an orthodontic appliance that allows Dr. Cooper and Dr. Misner to use 3D software to plan tooth movements using a series clear plastic trays, also known as aligners. Invisalign is the leading brand of clear aligner treatment, but there are many others. Instead of braces which are glued to your teeth, Invisalign trays are removed when eating and brushing. Still, they must be worn at least 22 hours per day in order to work effectively.
Initially, a 3D digital scan is taken, which eliminates the need for gooey impressions. After your treatment is designed by the orthodontist, Invisalign manufactures a series of aligners according to the treatment plan. Each aligner is typically worn for 1 week and moves the teeth a small step closer to their final position. The further the teeth have to move, the more trays it will require, ranging from 5 – 50 (or more). Clear “attachments” are typically glued to some teeth to help the trays stay in and effectively move the teeth. Patients see Dr. Cooper or Dr. Misner approximately every 8 weeks to make sure the teeth are moving according to plan. Typically this process is repeated once or twice in order to achieve the best possible result.
Treatment time with Invisalign is different for everyone. Minor treatments usually take 3-6 months with full treatment averaging 12-18 months. A few factors that affect total treatment time include case complexity, difficult tooth movements, and compliance with wearing the aligners as prescribed.
This is the #1 question people ask about Invisalign! Limited treatments range from $1250-3500 and full treatment usually falls somewhere between $5000-6500. Your dental insurance may pay a portion of this fee. We also offer interest free payment plans to make things easily affordable with a down payment of $500 and low monthly payments over 12-24 months. At our no-cost consultation you can receive an exact quote and our amazing treatment coordinators will go over various options to find a payment plan that works for you.
